CILT Malta’s vision is to be the first choice for students aspiring for a career in transport and logistics and provide assistance in their development all the way to become accredited professionals, whilst engaging with a network of like-minded individuals.
CILT Malta is managed by a Committee consisting of professional and experienced individuals from a variety of backgrounds in Logistics and Supply Chain. The main responsibilities of CILT Malta’s committee include drawing policies to support individuals seeking career development and training in transport and logistics management, as well as coordinating seminars and events on contemporary issues. The committee formation incorporates three key positions that of Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer assisted by the Communications secretary, Education secretary, Membership secretary and Youths secretary.
Miriam Camilleri is the Managing Director of MCConsult and Associates that she set up 20 years ago. Miriam has been involved in the transport industry for over 40 years. Her first job related to the transport industry was when she joined Air Malta, the national airline where she familiarised herself with ground operations before she qualified for an operational position in load control being the first female airline official to occupy this position. After quite a long spell here she took up a position at the ministry responsible for maritime affairs later to become the ministry for transport where she formed part of a team that overhauled the merchant shipping legislation. She also had the responsibility to represent Malta at the meetings of the International Maritime Organisation and to liaise with the newly set up Malta Maritime Authority. Miriam also served as a director on the leading cargo handling company.
Miriam represents in Malta the Korean Register of Shipping and is the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Georgia. Moreover she is also heavily involved in the Malta Maritime Law Association and until recently MMLA Vice President leading the merchant shipping sub committee. She is a strong advocate of the critical importance of combining hands-on experience, training and academic education. This is clearly evident in her professional career path and in her firm support for and commitment to the mission of CILT.
Miriam is a Chartered Member of CILT. She is the chairperson of CILT Malta a position she has occupied for these last four years. Together with her team she pursues growth in membership and activities of the Malta branch and wide training and experience across the whole transport industry.
Mr. Bruno Olivier is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He is the managing director of Mall Systems Limited. Mr. Bruno Olivier has an expert background in operations management, transportation, project management and logistics based on his past experience at the transport agency.
Mr. Buttigieg is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Malta. He is also the General Manager of the B.A.S. Mr. Buttigieg’s top skill is to identify relevant opportunities and content for clients’ connections. He also acts as a Security Manager for B.A.S. Ltd and is an authorized AVSEC (Aviation Security) – Malta Instructor on procedures of security measures in respect of cargo moving by air from Malta.
Officer responsible for Communications. Mr. Ebejer is a fully fledged professional currently employed by Transport Malta in the maritime sector. Mr. Justin Ebejer has studied for the International Advanced Diploma in Transport and Logistics and is currently a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He has also attended intensive courses covering training in Port Operations and also in the implementation of Port Safety Procedures.
Officer responsible for Education and Training. Mr. Farrugia is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (both UK and Malta). He is a self-employed researcher, development coach (CILT, UK), moderator (CILT International) and Aviation Security Manager and Instructor. Dr. Farrugia read for his Ph.D. at the Manchester Metropolitan University, U.K. He inspires his students by sharing his knowledge and expertise in the transport and logistics area.
On Wednesday 18 January 2023, CILT Malta was invited to a private meeting at the Ministry for Public Works and Planning with Minister Dr. Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi and Mr. Paul Vella Head of Secretariat. Generic short courses, complimentary to roles in supply chain, logistics and transportation, administration and management in general, are being offered. These courses deal with the following subjects: Change Management; Human Resources Management; Leadership and Team Building; Programme Management and Negotiation Skills; Quality Management and Risk Assessment.
Delivered by qualified tutors, and with the participation of guest speakers from the sector, these courses will contribute towards students’ knowledge coming from theory and practice, within a contemporary setting. A certificate of accreditation will be awarded by CILT, subject to full attendance.
